ROSE LAYING: POW / MIA Rose Laying Day at the Trumbull County Veterans Memorial next to the log cabin will be on Friday at noon. The event will honor all prisoners of war or missing from Trumbull County in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. For more information call Leigh Ann Zigler at 330-240-7829

DESERT STORM MEETING: The 30th Anniversary of the Desert Storm reunion will be hosted by the 475th Quartermaster Group, and all veterans and their families who served in Operation Desert Shield or Operation Desert Storm are welcome. Veterans of other wars and conflicts are also invited to attend the event, which will take place from noon to 5 pm September 25 at Sharon Elks Lodge 103, 260 E. Connelly Blvd., Sharon, Pa. There will be a brief military ceremony and a catered buffet meal.

Reservations must be made by Saturday at the latest. Include your name, military unit, branch of service, and the names of anyone else present. The information is needed for name tags to be made for participants.

Make checks for the buffet meal ($ 11 per person) payable to “Larry Scheetz” and send them to: 500 Buhl Blvd., Sharon, Pa. 16146. A receipt will be sent if an email is provided. Contact Scheetz at [email protected] or call 724-977-1200.

COLLECTION TO HELP IDA SURVIVORS: The Diocese of Youngstown, in collaboration with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, calls on Catholics and others to support the church’s efforts to meet humanitarian needs resulting from Hurricane Ida, local tornadoes and flooding, and any other projected weather-related damage. The funds raised will be distributed where they are needed most.

Catholic Charities USA, along with local agencies, will respond to immediate emergency needs first, as well as long-term reconstruction and recovery efforts.
