Paul McCartney performs at Glastonbury 2022
Saturday at Glastonbury saw some of the best sets of the weekend so far.
From Joy Crookes making her Worthy Farm debut to returning champions Haim in a glorious, sun-kissed performance on Pyramid Stage, there was a particularly special atmosphere ahead of Sir Paul McCartney’s highly anticipated title.
Other great shows came from Glass Animals, Metronomy, Celeste and Gen-Z pop star Olivia Rodrigo, who stormed the Other Stage with a surprise appearance from Lily Allen. Performing Allen’s 2012 hit “F*** You,” the duo appealed the Supreme Court for overturning Roe vs Wade in the United States.
Taking the Pyramid stage just before Macca, Noel Gallagher and his High Flying Birds played a series of audience-pleasing Oasis hits, prompting critic Mark Beaumont to wonder if the gloves are off completely in his sibling rivalry with his younger brother – and former teammate – Liam.
Then came the time for the man himself, Sir Paul McCartney, who released his superb band and half a century of classic songs, not to mention terrific surprise guests in the form of Bruce Springsteen and the frontman of the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl. What a night!

Kendrick Lamar’s work has always been introspective, but Mr Morale and the big step by step – with guest spots from artists such as Florence Welch, Beth Gibbons, Summer Walker and Sampha – has an unprecedented delicacy and tenderness for the father of two from Compton, Calif.
