J. Douglas Wellington, Esq., JD, LLM, Associate Professor in the School of Business and Management at Husson University agrees. “Husson University has the only CFP® certified program in northern New England. This is one of the reasons why a Husson business education stands out from the programs of other colleges and universities in our region.

“The New England financial planning community wants to make sure the next generation of financial planners are well positioned to start their careers with the tools they need to be successful,” said Flood. “Our vision in creating this partnership is to help bridge the gap between student academic work and the local financial planning industry. Our membership base will also have the opportunity to learn from these students. They will bring to our group a new perspective and energy that we think is very valuable. Their ideas will shape the future of our profession, and we hope that there is a high level of engagement between our existing and new members at Husson University.

“While this deal benefits short-term students, there are also long-term benefits for the public,” said Marie Hansen, dean of the College of Business at Husson University and the New England School of Communications (NESCom ). “Better-trained finance professionals are more likely to help consumers achieve their long-term goals. A good financial planner can help people save for a home, invest for retirement, pay for their education, and create budgets to manage their money.
