Montgomery Group to Launch New Event for International Development Community at Crucial Time

LONDON, October 7, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Montgomery Group, well known as one of the oldest organizers of international exhibitions in the world, is launching a very important and strategic new event for the international development community. Development2030 will be launched at Brussels Expo on November 17-18, alongside AidEx’s 10th anniversary, which focuses on humanitarian aid and disaster relief. Development2030 will address many of the most pressing issues during what is now considered the most difficult time since World War II.

With concerns about how the world will meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) in time for the 2030 deadline, the name of the event speaks for itself. How has the reduction in funding for international aid and development projects affected our chances of achieving these goals? Has the pandemic derailed our momentum to tackle the climate crisis?

With the private sector playing a crucial role in achieving these goals and helping to mitigate the effects of climate change, Development2030 will feature a conference addressing many relevant issues, keynote speakers and panelists from all sectors including the UN , governments and NGOs as well as the private sector, philanthropic foundations and universities. The exhibit showcases leadership and innovation initiatives that support the United Nations SDGs. The main actors of the business sector as well as NGOs and other actors in this space will be invited to meet and network for the first time since the pandemic, to develop new partnerships and initiatives in accordance with UNSDG number 17 ; how the world community will work together to achieve the other 16 goals.

This agenda aligns perfectly with its new main sponsor, Amazon. Amazon’s disaster relief and response efforts utilize operational excellence, innovative technologies, and Amazon’s global logistics network to provide rapid and effective assistance to global disaster response operations at large. ladder. Since 2017, Amazon has donated more than 15 million relief items to support people affected by more than 70 natural disasters around the world. Amazon is committed to building a sustainable business for its customers and the planet. In 2019, Amazon co-founded The Climate Pledge, a commitment to be zero carbon in all of its activities by 2040, 10 years before the Paris Agreement.

Development2030 has also embarked on a new UK-based sports and community initiative called Football Fiesta, which is a unique new leisure concept offering a park experience of indoor football fans at permanent venues on main streets and in centers. commercial. Football Fiesta uses this positioning and exposure to create its “Community Center” philosophy, making football accessible to all ages, abilities, genders and races. You can find out more about this community project here:

Development2030 will include two new awards focused on sustainability initiatives and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs. The Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year Award will recognize international private companies that successfully implement initiatives contributing to societal objectives of a philanthropic or charitable nature with ethical practices. The Sustainable Initiative of the Year award aims to recognize the best example of a green strategy – how working in an environmental context should not sacrifice economic productivity and growth. In sync with its sister event, AidEx, Development2030 will also host a series of high-level webinars to build momentum for global discussion on the issues addressed at the event.

The timing of AidEx and Development2030 is all the more important given that COP26 takes place only a week earlier at Glasgow. The United Kingdom, in partnership with Italy, will host the world’s largest climate change event seeking to accelerate activities required to keep global warming at 1.5 degrees, now widely accepted as the level at which a major environmental disaster can be avoided.

Development2030 was launched with the support of its supporting partners from its sister company, AidEx, Development Aid (!/home) and Qatar Charity. ( Both organizations have supported AidEx, global international development efforts, as well as the UNSDG for many years.

Development2030 calls on all stakeholders to come together to Brussels and contribute to a common goal that benefits everyone.
