Schuyler County celebrates second annual Farm Trail weekend this Saturday and Sunday

This weekend, Schuyler County celebrates its second annual Farm Trail Weekend.

Visitors can visit participating farms for activities, learn and even purchase fresh produce and produce that the farms have to offer.

Farms participating in the Schuyler County Farm Trail Weekend:

Saturday September 25:

Cheerful cherry farm
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
3723 County Road 2, Hector
Highlights: This is a pick-your-own fruit and vegetable farm (subject to availability). We grow cordless tomatoes, cherries, apples, jalapenos, sweet peppers, cucumbers and green beans.

Four Seasons Alpacas – Celebration of National Alpaca Farm Days
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
4418 Six Corners Road, Dundee
Highlights: Farm tours and a range of goods to buy including alpaca rugs, throws, wall hangings, hats, gloves, scarves and pillows.

Prairie Hawk Farm
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
5066 Mott Evans Road, Trumansburg
Highlights: farm tours, mushrooms grown in logs and mushroom products for sale; as well as maple syrup and herbal skin care products.

Muddy Finger Farm
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
3859 Dugue Road, Hector
Strengths: Various market garden crops and products for sale.

Ort family farm
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
2761 Yorski Road, Bradford
Highlights: Over 100 flavors of fruit jams and jellies, herbal tea blends made from farm-grown fruit and herbs, and potted fruit plants. Bartlett Family Farm will also be on site with an assortment of maple products. Ford Farm will be present with a selection of fall vegetables and more.

Apple Country / Apples by Reisinger and Moore LLC
9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
2750 Apple Lane, Watkins Glen
Highlights: U-pick apples, pears, zinnia flowers and pumpkins available. At the farm store: donuts, cider, maple syrup, honey, jams and jellies.

Russell’s Alpaca Acres – National Alpaca Farm Days Celebration
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
4047 Newtown Road, Burdett
Highlights: Take a tour, visit the newborn alpaca, and learn how to breed alpacas. Alpaca products, yarn and raw fleece will be available for purchase.

Seneca Valley Daily Farm
Visits at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. only
3758 Burdett County Road 8
Strong points: Visit of a working dairy farm. See the cows, the milking parlor, and other on-farm experiences.

Shtayburne Farm Dairy
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
2909 Chase Road, Rock Creek
Highlights: An old-fashioned working dairy farm with hand-crafted cows and cheeses, with cheese-making demonstrations.

Sunset View Creamery
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
4970 County Road 14, Odessa
Highlights: A dairy farm nestled in the hills of Schuyler County, offering tours, wagon rides, kids’ activities and shopping. Artisanal cheese, locally sourced beef, free range eggs, fudge, maple syrup, honey, jams and jellies are available.
