Runcorn’s Heath Business and Technical Park is set to hold a special community event on June 1 to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee as part of its “Eat @ TheHeath” program to combat loneliness and isolation for the elderly and people living alone.

Eileen Miller, Site and Community Charter Manager at The Heath, said: “At the end of each month we hold a “Eat @ TheHeath” lunch for local residents, but we are delaying our May lunch for a week so that we can hold a special celebration to coincide with the Queen’s Jubilee.

“Guests attending on Wednesday June 1 will enjoy afternoon tea with Bucks Fizz and soft drinks and will be entertained by singer ‘Lainey’ with many patriotic songs.

“We want everyone who attends to wear something red, white or blue, or even all three colours, for what is sure to be a wonderful event and celebration to commemorate the Queen’s 70th birthday.

“Our monthly lunches are proving incredibly popular with local residents, but it is essential that anyone wishing to attend books their place as we are certain to be oversubscribed.”

the Eat @ TheHeath programme, a platform for locals to meet weekly, is sponsored by The Heath owners SOG Group. As well as monthly lunches and music sessions, there are also weekly gatherings with community forums on topical issues and a chance to engage with local Police Community Support Officers who have an office at The Heath.

SOG has even purchased a minibus to provide free transport for elderly people who cannot get to the site on their own.

The weekly rallies are organized by Eileen and Alison Albion of The Heath Community Team with Heath & Beechwood Police Community Support Officers Louise Croft and Tracey Taylor.

A number of SOG volunteers also support Eat @ TheHeath serving food, cleaning up after events and driving the minibus.

Reservations can be made by emailing but numbers are limited.
