There are birthdays, holidays, barefoot days, wear your pajamas to school, take your child to work, and then there are Dare Days! Dare Days 2022 is a city-sponsored special event that showcases and celebrates our great community, its diverse culture and rich history over THREE days in THREE ways in THREE different locations to enjoy!

Dare Days 2022 will begin at the brand NEW College of the Albemarle (COA) Dare Campus on Friday, June 3rd from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The main highway leading into town is lined with local businesses and is the gateway that welcomes all who live in and visit our community every day. The doors to COA’s new campus will be wide open to showcase the various programs they offer and allow everyone to see for themselves why they are an excellent choice for a quality education. Grab your lawn chair or fuzzy blanket and spread out on the lawn while enjoying delicious food from local food trucks, playing with local bands, and smiling as you watch kids of all ages having lots of fun with it. all lively activities throughout the evening. . Follow the downtown sidewalk to continue discovering the charming and lively town of Manteo!

Come back the next day and help us celebrate our community even more on Saturday June 4thand 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Roanoke Island Festival Park in downtown Manteo. Manteo is on the move with various building projects, so we are expanding into the beautiful and spacious grounds of one of our local historic attractions. It’s like an adventure within an adventure! Bring your family and friends and check out the variety of craft and food vendors, music, live entertainment, lawn games and a great kids corner. High school bands, local dancers and performers, obstacle courses and hula hoops – stay tuned for more scoop!

But wait, there’s MORE! Keep that lawn chair and fluffy blanket in the car because you won’t get too far. End a weekend of family, friends, smiles, laughter and jitters on Sunday, June 5and during a gospel concert at the Pea Island Cookhouse on Sir Walter Raleigh Street. Look for the statue of warden Richard Etheridge who stands proudly at the roundabout waiting to share his story and everyone! Grab a drink from the old fashioned lemonade stand and treat yourself to sensational local treats at the bake sales while relaxing and enjoying a wide range of music provided by our local churches and other groups. What a delight!

Dare Days 2022 is all about celebrating and connecting communities locally to share our wonderful and diverse culture and rich history through this very special event. Also, don’t forget to shop and dine at the many local shops and restaurants throughout the weekend. Buy local, save your receipts and redeem them anytime during the weekend festivities for fun gifts and prizes. Dare Days 2022 is sure to be a full event weekend!
