The sun is shining on a creative new community event as we come out of lockdown

Tuesday, July 20, 2021

TAMWORTH New Urban Era hosted the first in a series of creative community events on Saturday 17th July at the North Warwickshire Recreation Grounds.

The event hosted 25 artists from across the UK, including N4T4, Katie Scott Creative and Si Mitchell.

Painting on several canvases, including shipping containers, a van and the pavilion wall, visitors were stunned at Nue’s first public event since the start of the pandemic.

Nue founder Vic Brown says:

“It was amazing seeing people at our events on Saturday after such a long absence. We had to limit the capacity and the number of artists involved due to social distancing, but that did not alleviate the atmosphere that continued until the end of the evening ”

The event featured local DJs including 11-year-old DJ Miss Pipsta who performed a selection of music to entertain visitors and local band Rize also took to the stage.

Visitors also had the opportunity to participate in a number of workshops throughout the day, including aerosol art, DJ skills and breakdancing.

The event was made possible through grants from the National Lottery of the Arts Council of England and support from local businesses.
