Walk-in sports are back in action at the community and event center


Walk-in sports and recreation will reopen on August 10 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center, 8236 SE 24th St.

Visitors can choose from a variety of sporting activities, including pickleball, basketball, volleyball, and badminton. The Open Gym is also available, allowing visitors to resume the physical activity of their choice.

COVID-19 precautions remain in place for safety reasons: masks are mandatory to enter the building, and cash is not accepted at this time.

Pickleball (all ages): 11:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday / Friday; 4:15 p.m. – 7 p.m. Thursday; 12:15 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Basketball (all ages): 1:15 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday / Thursday; 3:15 p.m. – 5 p.m. Friday / Saturday.

Volleyball (adults and seniors): 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday / Thursday; 4:15 p.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday.

Badminton (all ages): 10:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday / Thursday; 4:15 p.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday.

Open gym (preschool and youth): 1:15 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday / Thursday; 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
